This tamale is made in a baking pan where a layer of dough is placed, then a layer of filling, one of sauce and a last layer of dough in order to obtain a tamale similar to a cake. It is cooked in a "pib" or earth oven, wood oven or home oven. To serve it, cut it into triangular slices. It can be eaten alone or accompanied with beans.
Its origin is the mucbil chicken from the Yucatan Peninsula.
